These are just a few of the ways I have found to be most helpful when I'm depressed or disappointed, angry, or just plain down. When you feel like the rug has been pulled out from underneath you. When you really want to change that frequency.
I have always been told I was "moody" or "overemotional." To the point I went on a mission to find out... "HOW" to stay in the positive. It is very hard work at times; to consciously FOCUS your thoughts!!! Especially when your emotions are involved! There were times, I just wanted to Be Mad, or Sad, or Hurt, whatever that negative emotion was as the time. Take my advice here... DO NOT GIVE IN TO THIS!!! Believe me, that only makes it harder to come out of it.
Along my journey I found "The Law Of Attraction" aka "The Secret. "What a WONDERFUL tool to understand your life, your thoughts, and your emotions. And the reason it is so important to stay positive and focused on what you want instead of what you don't want! "Like Attracts Like!" In finding that... I was attracted to all kinds of self help material. And what a wonderful journey it has been so far!
There is also a Quote I read today that William James had said..."Acceptance of what has happened is the First Step to overcome the consequence of any misfortunes."
That really hit home for me!
I hope these methods can help you "Instantly change your Mood" and turn that negative into positive in as short as time as possible.
LIVE... LOVE... LAUGH... WORDS TO LIVE BY!!!
Above all, try to remember... You are given each moment "ONLY ONCE!" Try to consciously cherish each one as the gift it is! I believe that's why they call it the "PRESENT!!!" Do Not let the negative have any power to take them away from you!!!
* Make a list of things you are grateful for... the more detailed you get, the more you feel it, the faster you can let go of the negative emotions holding you down. Gratitude and Love are two of the STRONGEST emotions to put to work on your own behalf!
* Pray... Personally, this is my answer to everything. But, this is up to the individual and their spirituality... What ever you do to "Connect to the Divine"
*Put on your favorite song!!! If at all possible, put on some headphones and just turn it up and play it over and over till you feel like singing with it. Then sing along. Now, make sure you are choosing songs that are uplifting, empowering, makes you happy, don't pick the tearjerkers... you'll just get lower!
* Think hard about something comical that happened to you or someone you know. Try to remember the small details of your memory! The feeling of laughing so hard your side hurt,all the people who got to share the laughter,where you were... etc.
* If you're at home, turn on cartoons!!! Or the Disney Channel! This is a favorite of mine. I love to take my mind to the innocent happy times of sat. morning cartoons. I know, your thinking... she's nuts, but honestly, it will make you laugh and lighten your heart... plus it keeps me up with my grand kids!
*Go to You Tube and look up funny videos!!! Oh this is fun. They have oodles of funny little clips to see. You should do this often... it has great funny stuff!!!
*Write it down. This works Very well! Put everything you are feeling and what caused it on paper. Then tell it off... so to speak... then release each and every one of them verbally and burn the paper and imagine all your worries going away with it!
Imagination is a Powerful way to create your ideal world!!!!
*Meditate.... again this is to get to your Center. For those of you who know this art already know how powerful this is. For those who don't, this is an excellent practice to get into. There are many free sites on the net that can help you. It is all about getting to your Power Within. This is where all your answers are.
*Go read greeting cards! Yes, you read it right, it is amazing how you can change a foul mood quickly after reading the funny cards! My daughter and I did this one day for over an hour! What a wonderful, memorable experience!!!
*Do something nice for someone on impulse. Take someone lunch, or flowers, or just visit. Something that will bring joy to someone else!!! Giving is one of the best ways to shift the negative forces out... besides the benefit to that person!
*Pull up the pictures of newborns on the Internet. A child will always bring a smile to your heart. Same with some baby animals. Mainly, Change Your Focus to get off that wrong frequency.
*Try to find 1 humorous thing in your situation. This ties into writing it all down, if you can purposely look for a funny thing in what you wrote and make a joke of it. "YOU" can change your outlook of the situation, from negative to positive vibes!
*Walk Outside... "Breathe" in the air... "LISTEN," to all the sounds of life around you. Imagine seeing all that you can hear and put a funny face on it. Cars driving by with people driving in their underwear; with clown faces! Birds singing with heads alot bigger than their bodies, squirrels in the trees with goofy big teeth and smiles on their faces. If it's raining... Oh, this is nice... smell the air, watch the rain fall and pretend it's all your problems just getting washed away with it.
Remember yourself as a child loving to play in it. "LOOK" at all the colors around you! Really look... God paints with all the colors!!! See how many you can find that you never seen before, or just took for granted, because you were too busy to see them.
*Give special attention to your pet! If you have a pet... you know the love they bring into your life... and the joy. Give them some petting and loving. It is very therapeutic and they will love it too.
* Try a cup of hot tea... don't laugh... it really works! There are all kinds of calming teas and they do just that! Plus give you that warm fuzzy feeling.
*Call a friend. Now, I saved this for last for a good reason... I want you to have ways to do on your own... by yourself. It's a huge confidence boost. And sometimes telling a friend and going on about it only keeps you there in it. You need to Change Your "FOCUS!" Talking about it after you have dealt with the emotions is much wiser.
These are just things I have found work for me and sometimes it only takes one, and then there are times when I go through the whole list! I hope any of these will help you change that frequency as fast as possible to keep any more of the same coming at you.
But I want to say again, because it needs repeated until it's a habitual thought; Above all, remember... you are given each moment "Only Once" they never come back. So try to consciously CHERISH each and every one! Live in the moment. Don't waste them on negative feelings! Greet each one with gratitude, love and peace in your heart, and you will find... the bad stuff isn't so bad after all.
